This week’s Friday 56 is taken from an ebook. You can read my review of this fun book on my review blog, PonyTails Book Reviews.

“It’d only been a few hours, and she felt like she had a giant sign tattooed on her forehead that read I HAD SEX WITH MY BEST FRIEND’S OLDER BROTHER.”

  • Don’t dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

Chasing Mrs. Right is available from Amazon and Barnes and Noble in ebook editions.

Thursday was one busy day! I think I was going from 9am to 2 or 3 am.  I went to one Publisher Spotlight, two panels, three parties, and the ebook signing fair. I think I wore three different outfits during the day (which is a HUGE amount for me!).

It started out with a Publisher Spotlight with Sourcebooks. I finally met the amazing Danielle Jackson. She is the Publicity Director that I work with for my review blog. Such an amazing publishing company.  It is the largest woman only owned publishing company with impressive sales numbers.  All of the staff is friendly and accessible, even the editors.

Some of the staff from Sourcebooks. Far left is Danielle, in the middle is Deb Werksman, and Leah Hultenschmidt is far right.

My next panel was the Holding Out For A Hero with Cythia Eden, Lisa Renee Jones, Elisabeth Naughton, and Caridad Pineiro. It was a great panel that discussed Alpha, Beta, and Anti Heroes.  I was surprised by what I didn’t know about Beta and Anti Heroes (guess I need to read more about these type of Heroes).  Caridad and Lisa provided handouts.  Lisa’s was only 3 pages. 🙂

The first party was the Gaslight Steampunk party. It was well attended and a lot of fun.  Next time, I hope to have a costume!  It would be so much fun. I took TONS of photos at this event, but I’m only posting a few here. It was hosted by a wonderful group of authors: R.G. Alexander, Maureen O. Betita, Eden Bradley, Karina Cooper, Seleste DeLaney, Leanna Renee Hieber, Suzanne Lazear, Cindy Spencer Pape, Deborah Schneider, and Natalie Zaman.

After the Steampunk Party, I went to the Ebook Signing Fair.  I wanted to see who was there and also to check on Laura Kreitzer.  I got in the line for Graphic Novel Authors to get a Graphic Novel signed by Charlaine Harris for Laura.  I was so received a poster which was signed by all of the attending authors.  I didn’t stick around long because I wanted to go change clothes for the Samhain Western Stampede Party.

After a quick change in to my western shirt, jeans, and boots, it was time for the Samhain Western Stampede.  When I arrived I was handed a flashing boot mug with a bandanna tied to it. Samhain’s western authors were wandering around talking to fans. There was a buffet of snacks (pulled pork sandwiches, veggies, etc).  They also had a toss the ring game.  You tossed the ring at a smiling catus and if you got a ring on him, you got two books.  I ended up staying until the very end chatting with Beth Williamson, Lorelei James, and Vivian Arend, and Cat Johnson. At the end, it was announced that they had extra books up for grabs.  So I went and picked up one of each of the other six titles I didn’t have.  I then proceeded to find the ladies to sign them. 🙂

No clue who this model was, but he gave me a signed card. LOL

After the Stampede party, I ran up to my room to change clothes one more time.  This time in to my plaid skirt and a black shirt.  Before I headed down to the Scottish Fling, I took a quick picture of the books I got during the day (no clue why The Legend of Michael is in that picture).

The Magical Scottish Fling was a sit down dinner with a Fairy/Scottish Costume Contest.  I didn’t take my Ren Fest stuff because I thought it would be too much.  I was wrong.  LOL.  After the costume contest, there was dancing. I don’t have all of the picture from this night.  My phone died during the party, so Wendy (the wonderful assistant to Lisa Renee Jones) took some pictures for me. Once I have them, I’ll post them here.

Pre-party Bagpiper. He was very good.

Scott Nova showing his Scottish Pride.

Len Gunn looking sharp in his suit. (Okay more than just smart. Damn handsome is a better description)

(As soon as I get more pictures from other people, I’ll post them here.)

Overall, it was a great day.  I learned many things, and met new people.  What more can you ask for from a convention?  Day 3 Recap will be coming soon.
